FINALLY, A SECOND BLOG POST!

02.26.2026

So much for weekly blogs...

Recently, I've hit a bit of a creative block. I suppose I've had a pretty bad creative block since graduating college. Between work and trying to get back into shape at the gym, I feel like I haven't had enough time to dedicate to my hobbies. Moreover, I totally struggle with an addiction to social media.

I can't be the only one, right? I stay up for countless hours, scrolling through Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts knowing full well that I'll never find anything intelligent on either platform. Sure, I like laughing at stupid fucking memes, but it gets really bad when my phone addiction cuts into my bed time. I have enough self-awareness to recognize it as a problem but for some reason, I just CAN'T break away. The next reel I scroll to has GOT to be solid gold, right?

Sorry, sorry. I know this specific blog post has turned into a bit of a vent about my struggle with social media, but I gotta get it out there somewhere. To be 24 years old and have dopamine receptors THIS cooked is definitely no bueno. Another thing that keeps me glued to my phone is my girlfriend. She lives in Canada, approximately 1,700 miles away from me. We chat regularly and sometimes take trips out to see each other, but man does long distance keep me stuck to my screen. I love her tons and tons and can't wait until we can get a place of our own. Maybe I'll be less stuck to my phone then.

Any solutions?

I know nobody really reads my blogs, but maybe there are people out there with addictive personalities like mine who KNOW how to truly break away from the cycle of doomscrolling. Like any substance addiction, I feel that a scrolling addiction can be just as destructive and hard to break away from. "Just delete the app bro lol."

Mang, I've tried that. I find myself constantly feeling understimulated even while watching some really interesting YouTube videos. Anywho, sorry if this blog is a moodkiller. I'll post shenanigans regularly with my next blog posts. Until then, if anyone reading happens to have a solution to my scrolling addiction, let me know at eivyrn@mailbox.org! You can also contact me using the mail link on my index page.

Before I log out for the afternoon, here's a cool photo I took of my bandmates when we set up at our university campus. If you go to (or ever went to) Cal Poly Pomona, you'll know exactly where this is.
